Pvt. Nathaniel Critchfield
While a resident of Bedford Co., Pa., he served as a private as follows: He enlisted in Romney, Virginia in April 1778, served as a substitute for Benjamin Critchfield, in Capt. James Brenton's Co., Colonel Evans' Virginia Regiment and assisted in building Forts McIntosh and Laurens. He was discharged in November 1778.
After the Revolution, Nathaniel Critchfield lived in Pennsylvania and Ohio. He was allowed pension on his application executed Sept. 29, 1832, then a resident of Howard Twp., Knox County, Ohio. He lived at this location for about 26 years.
