Amos Ashcraft
In 1778 he joined the army destined to go against the Shawnee and Delaware Indians in the company of James Daugherty under Col. John Evans and Gen. McIntosh. They marched to the Ohio River to Manshore's bottom, crossed the river and marched to the bluff where they built Fort McIntosh. The regular forces joined the militia and they marched to Tusaroras [SIC], a fork of the Muskingum River, and built Fort Lawrence [sic]. The militia were dismissed there.
Amos Ashcraft of Cooper Co., Mo., private in the company of Capt. Daughty in regiment of Col. Evans in the Virginia and Pennsylvania militia for two years, was placed on the Missouri pension roll at $80 per annum under the Act of 1832. Certificate 19737 was issued 29 Aug. 1833.
Amos Ashcraft was born in 1757 in Virginia and lived in Virginia, Kentucky and Missouri.
