Conrad Allier

He returned to Shepherdstown [1777] and remained there until the next faul [sic] 1778 when he was drafted under Capt. Swearington for three months and marched west under Col. John Morrow. They crossed the Ohio River below Pittsburgh near the mouth of Big Beaver where they joined the army under Gen. McIntosh. He was employed in building Fort McIntosh and then a part of the army proceeded to the Tuscaraway [sic] River to build Fort Lawrence [sic]. He was then discharged and started home with several others who lived near Shepherdstown. On the way back they nearly starved, having to subsist on only a little corn that was left on the ground where the animals were fed on the way out to Tuscaraway [sic]. He returned home between Christmas and New Years.

He was born about 1750, lived in Shepherdstown, Va., and about 1796 moved to Washington Co., Penn. At the time of his service, "I was so much of a German that I did not understand the English language well."

Conrad Aller of Washington Co., Penn., private in company of Capt. Morrow in regiment of Col. Morrow in Pennsylvania militia for six months, was placed on the Pittsburgh, Penn., pension roll at $20 per annum under the Act of 1832. Certificate 18896 was issued 24 Oct. 1833.
